PM aims to repatriate as many emigrants as possible amid positive migration balance in 2024
“In 2024, Georgia experienced a positive migration balance—meaning fewer people left the country than returned. Approximately 850 more individuals entered than departed,” the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, asserted during a government session.
According to the Prime Minister, one of the government’s primary objectives is to encourage the return of emigrants to their homeland.
“In 2024, we achieved a positive migration balance, meaning fewer people left than returned. Notably, there is also a positive migration trend among Georgian citizens, with roughly 850 more people coming in than leaving. Our mission is to bring our emigrants back home as much as possible, and in this effort, maintaining a high rate of economic growth is crucial. Regarding other demographic indicators, such as birth rates, marriage, and divorce rates, the situation remains challenging. Nevertheless, this issue is being actively addressed,” the Prime Minister affirmed.
