Person suspected of murdering 9-year-old girl to be presented charges

The person accused of the murder of a 9-year-old girl in Gori town of Shida Kartli region will be presented charges at a pre-trial isolator today.

The person is brought to Tbilisi. According to Lawyer Maia Grigolashvili, the detainee does not plead guilty and keeps silence.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the detainee aged 34 is previously convicted on a charge of money extortion.

An investigation is in progress under Article 109 (2) (b) of the Criminal Code of Georgia (murder under aggravating circumstances of a minor or a helpless person knowingly by the offender).

The 9-year-old girl was found dead on the bank of the Liakhvi River on October 25. The family of the deceased girl claims that there are signs of violence on her body.
