People's Power Macharashvili: Commission’s findings and October 4 show UNM has no place in Georgian politics
“We have repeatedly said, and the Georgian society reaffirmed during the 2024-2025 elections, that there should not be a political force in Georgia’s landscape that damages the country, whether in power or in opposition,” stated Guram Macharashvili, a member of People’s Power.
Macharashvili emphasised that this view is supported by extensive evidence.
“Anyone reading the commission’s findings and the events of October 4 will realise that such a political force as the United National Movement and its affiliates has no place in Georgian politics. It would be a positive development if the opposition forces in Georgia could finally be critical of the government without causing harm to the nation,” Guram Macharashvili concluded.
The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, presented a constitutional lawsuit seeking to declare the activities of the United National Movement, the Coalition for Change, and Strong Georgia–Lelo unconstitutional and ban them.
