Penitentiary institutions begin receiving parcels for Easter

In honour of Easter, all penitentiary establishments overseen by the Special Penitentiary Service will commence receiving parcels for detainees and convicts.

Parcels will be available for collection at the penitentiary facilities from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on April 8 and 9.

“The permitted food items that detainees or convicts may receive in parcel form include: 3 kg of fried or boiled meat; one portion of boiled chicken and one of fried chicken; 2 kg of cheese; 3 pieces each of khachapuri and lobiani; two Paskas; 10 red eggs; a cake; and 3 kg each of cucumbers and tomatoes.

Further information could be obtained via the hotline of the Special Penitentiary Service at 1500. The Service assures the smooth and orderly process of parcel reception,” the statement reads.
