Patriarch baptises 1,000 children in 71st mass baptism ceremony

On July 13, on the feast day of Svetitskhovloba, the 71st stage of mass baptism was held at the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Sameba.

One thousand children were baptised as the godchildren of the Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II.

“I congratulate you on this blessed day. Today 1,000 children were baptised. May God bless our children. May God bless all of Georgia,” declared Ilia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, at the 71st mass baptism ceremony.

Ilia II now has nearly 50,000 godchildren, the Public Relations Service of the Georgian Orthodox Church (GOC) has said.
