Parliamentary majority leader: Gakharia's party members owe debt of gratitude for right to be MPs
“The political union Gakharia for Georgia entered the Parliament belatedly, but nonetheless, they did. There is a reason for this delay, and we have repeatedly explained to the public that it was part of a scenario orchestrated by their patrons, in which this group, originating from the collective ‘National Movement’, was playing its natural role,” stated Irakli Kirtskhalia, leader of the parliamentary majority.
“It may be very difficult for you to hear, but that natural role is one of betrayal. A clear example of this is your leader, who has fled the country,” Kirtskhalia added.
He further explained that, just days before entering Parliament, members of Gakharia for Georgia issued their own ‘message’ claiming that only the 8% they received was legitimate.
“Remember one thing: you should be grateful to each member of the parliamentary majority for giving you the right to sit here and be recognised as members of the Georgian Parliament today. But also bear in mind that we have always respected the voters whom you deceived before the elections, pretending to represent a different political force,” the majority leader remarked.
Irakli Kirtskhalia also reminded the newly-inducted members of their political standing, which has evolved significantly over the past year, from the parliamentary elections to the local self-government elections.
“As for your attachment to the United National Movement, no matter how much you try to deny being supporters of one idea or one force, your actions after the parliamentary elections proved otherwise. Within days, you demonstrated it clearly when you signed the treacherous letter sent to Brussels, an act demanding punishment for our country and its voters. This is the true face of you and your leader. Remember this: from today, for the next three years, you will have to justify yourself every day for not being UNM and or sharing their ideas,” Kirtskhalia concluded.
