The Parliament of Georgia has announced the introduction of heightened security protocols.
According to the official statement, today’s session will feature the presentation of the annual report by Speaker Shalva Papuashvili. A yellow security alert will be enacted at the Parliament building in connection with this occasion.
“As part of the proceedings on May 14, the Speaker of the Parliament will deliver the annual report outlining the Parliament’s activities and the strategic plan for the upcoming year.
Following the Order of the Parliament Speaker dated September 4, 2023, No. 1/259/23, titled ‘On Approval of the Rules for Security Protection at the Palace of Parliament of Georgia,’ a yellow security level will be implemented at the Palace on May 14. Consequently, visitor access will be restricted.
Only individuals invited by the relevant structural units will be permitted to attend scheduled parliamentary events, including committee meetings and plenary sessions.
Additionally, no more than two accredited groups of broadcasters or telemedia outlets from each organisation will be allowed entry until the conclusion of the parliamentary sessions.
This measure aims to ensure a safe and secure environment within the Parliament building,” the statement concludes.
