Papuashvili says comparing Georgia to other countries reveals lack of argument, cheap propaganda tactic
“It’s simply nonsense when they compare us to some other country. It demonstrates that they have no valid argument; they are merely aiming to insult people,” said the Speaker of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.
The Georgian Parliament Speaker commented on the statement made by the British Ambassador to the OSCE, who suggested that Georgia should cease violating human rights, claiming that the situation in the country is difficult in this regard and that Georgia is comparable to Belarus.
In response, Shalva Papuashvili remarked: “It’s utter nonsense if he’s said such a thing.”
“Ask them what they’re trying to achieve with such statements. It is nonsense to compare us to any other country. When such comparisons are made, sometimes even accompanied by ethnic epithets, it is a form of Russian disinformation. This clearly shows that they lack proper arguments and resort to insults, attempting to liken us to another nation or to play on our national pride. It’s a cheap propaganda trick. That is why I say once again: what the ambassador said is nothing but nonsense,” Shalva Papuashvili added.
