Papuashvili: If Brussels were to be believed, Georgia would be ruined and war-torn country

“If Brussels were to be believed, Georgia would be a ruined and, most likely, a war-torn country,” stated the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili.

He was asked about the IMF’s long-term forecast, which projects Georgia as one of the leading nations in terms of economic growth between 2026 and 2031.

In response, Papuashvili expressed relief that representatives from Brussels and other capitals have not met with individuals merely kneeling in front of Brussels, but rather those who genuinely defend their nation’s interests. He pointed out that these positive ratings are a testament to that stance.

“This is the blessing of independence. We see the cost of kneeling in countries engulfed in war. Now, they have transformed that challenge into an advantage: questioning at what pace they will join the European Union, when negotiations will begin, and what outcomes they will achieve,” Papuashvili added.
