Discussion about the package of amendments proposed to be made into Law on Broadcasting is being held at the parliament through the first hearing.

Eka Beselia, Chairperson of Parliamentary Legal Affairs Committee introduces the legislative package regulations to the lawmakers at today’s plenary session.

According to MP, the establishing the working group for the amendments preparation was conditioned by relevant submission to the Legal Issues Committee.

“Public Broadcaster requested to discuss the legislative shortcomings in the law, which created certain problems in its activities and it was difficult or in most cases impossible to solve them.

For achieving more independence and efficient use of capabilities, the group has worked during seven months.

In addition, several NGOs worked with experts. The group reached agreement on the list of principals”- Beselia said.

According to Beselia, after the initiation, several meetings were held in both public and closed format.
