Parliament discussing overriding veto of President over Law on Broadcasting

The Georgian lawmakers are discussing overriding the veto of President Giorgi Margvelashvili over Law on Broadcasting.

Based on the procedure, in case MPs do not take the motivated remarks of president into consideration, the preliminary draft-bill will be put for voting. The draft-bill will be approved if more than half of members of the parliament support the document.

The Georgian parliament approved the legislative package with the third hearing on December 22, 2017, and submitted it to president for signing. President vetoed the document based on remarks in two directions – advertising and purchasing issues.

Representatives of mass media held two meetings with Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of Parliament. They presented their viewpoints to Kobakhidze during the meetings.
