Paata Imnadze – WHO concerned about signs of discrimination and stigma over coronavirus
The World Health Organization is concerned about the signs of discrimination and stigma observed lately in different countries including in Georgia against the Chinese people over the novel coronavirus – said Paata Imnadze, Chairman of Scientific Council of the National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health.
According to Imnadze, as WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus underlined, any kind of discrimination was unacceptable and asked everybody to take the WHO’s concern into consideration.
Imnadze also noted that there was no ground for panic about the coronavirus in Georgia. “We should be careful and alert. Based on the latest information, more than 200 people died of the virus but the same number of people recovered. The disease is not incurable,” Imnadze claimed.
