Paata Burchuladze advocates for young and insightful leader to guide Georgia
“Tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands, came out to express their dissatisfaction over the lack of a concrete plan,” stated Paata Burchuladze.
“These are people who do not have the luxury of time to be patient. We are losing our country and heading in the wrong direction. Mothers stood there whose children are imprisoned. New elections are approaching, but what elections are we talking about when the country is lost?”
We proposed to gather on April 8 in the evening, pledging to remain until we receive a positive response regarding new elections and the release of political prisoners. Additional demands will be introduced. We must take action, as no one else is stepping up,” Burchuladze added.
We stood and waited for four months, and the President announced her intention to establish a platform or elaborate on something. I don’t understand what’s happening. This seems like a diversion—when 100 to 150 thousand people showed up, she spoke of how Georgia was founded as a state. This cannot continue any longer. If the Georgian people are to elect a leader, it should be a young and insightful leader who can provide direction. However, we have not discussed this, and I have no idea whom to talk to about it. I speak to everyone as if they are family members at Rustaveli Avenue,” he explained.
Ex-President Salome Zourabichvili addressed the crowd at the March 31 protest on Rustaveli Avenue, proposing the creation of a resistance platform.
