OSCE PA President: In Georgia, we defend freedom of expression, right to protest and democratic process while keeping dialogue open
“In Georgia, we defend freedom of expression, the right to protest and the democratic process while keeping dialogue open,” Pere Joan Pons Sampietro, President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, stated in his speech at the OSCE Ministerial.
According to Sampietro, the OSCE plays a crucial role as a bridge across the region, from Georgia to the Caucasus and Central Asia, particularly in times of tension.
“International humanitarian law is not optional. Accountability must be universal without double standards. From Georgia in the South Caucasus and in Central Asia, the OSCE must remain a bridge when red lines cross open, when opportunities emerge. In Georgia, we defend freedom of expression, the right to protest and the democratic process while keeping dialogue open. In Armenia and Azerbaijan, steps towards reconciliation are underway. It’s really good news. And the OSCE PA stands ready to support lasting peace. In Central Asia, cooperation is essential for long-term security, economic resilience, and stability,” he stated.
