Opposition politician Sanikidze warns of backdoor negotiations with Ivanishvili, calls for national salvation

“Some individuals are covertly attempting to compromise with the government,” opposition politician Gubaz Sanikidze stated on TV Pirveli.

According to Sanikidze, certain opposition figures are secretly negotiating with Bidzina Ivanishvili.

“Many cannot clearly define their stance or position; they believe they are aligned when they are not. Various plans are swirling in their minds—they say one thing, mean another, and intend a third. Some are secretly plotting to compromise with the government. They will soon come up with countless excuses, claiming this is the right course of action to avoid stagnation. Meanwhile, they are stagnating, and this country has been occupied, embedded within Russia’s sphere of influence. We are no longer just threatened; we are already under its sway. When you accurately define your position, you will also make the right decisions. We are not merely at risk of losing our independence; we have already lost it,” Sanikidze emphasised.

He further explained that a National Salvation Committee is being formed to strategise and hold protest rallies aimed at the government’s resignation and the implementation of extraordinary measures.

“There is a clear plan, and nothing is particularly complicated about it. The real challenge lies within the people themselves. It requires dedicated political parties, non-governmental organisations, reputable civic groups, and individuals respected by society to come together in strategic planning. Those who refuse to participate will fade into political obscurity. Darwinian principles apply to politics: the weak must step aside, and there is no need to secretly negotiate with Bidzina Ivanishvili through the back door at night. Let’s be clear—those who do so are known to all. Society must judge based on what people say and what they do—who is willing to fight to the end and who is prepared to cooperate,” Sanikidze concluded.
