Opposition faction For Georgia to submit alternative bill on physical individuals’ property tax reforms

The parliamentary faction For Georgia will submit alternative legislative amendments regarding physical individuals’ property tax levies.

The faction chairman, MP Shalva Kereselidze, told GPB First Channel that it is crucial to clarify what the ruling party’s draft legislation specifically stipulates.

According to Kereselidze, the existing 40,000 GEL threshold had already become unacceptable, as household income levels were vastly different when the rule was originally introduced.

“This was no longer an appropriate sum at which to draw the line and tax citizens. Therefore, raising the threshold was necessary. We must see what the proposed legislation actually entails. The fact that the threshold is being raised is important. We need to examine whether this comes with other conditions attached: namely, who it applies to, how it will be administered, and so on,” stated Kereselidze.
