Opposition Alliance members meet with British Ambassador
Members of the Opposition Alliance are meeting with the British Ambassador to Georgia, Gareth Ward.
Speaking ahead of the start of the meeting, Tamar Chergoleishvili, leader of the Federalists, said that the Alliance intends to brief the Ambassador on its aims, specifically, what their path to victory looks like and precisely what they are asking of the international community.
“We intend to explain that the Opposition Alliance’s purpose is not solely the defeat of the regime; its purpose is to restore society’s faith in democracy. That is why we begin with ourselves. This is, in a sense, a democratic reset project. The second matter is how we intend to defeat the regime, what our path to victory is, and what we are specifically asking of the international community along the way so that we may achieve the defeat of Russian influence in this country and see Georgia become part of the free world,” said Tamar Chergoleishvili.
Meanwhile, Giorgi Baramidze, Political Secretary of the United National Movement, stated that Great Britain, like Georgia’s other friends and allies, stands firmly backing the Georgian people in their aspiration for Georgia to be a peaceful, European nation.
“We are speaking with all of Georgia’s friends about how to save Georgia from this Russian gang of traitors and criminals, who are dragging the country towards isolation and towards Russia. Great Britain, like Georgia’s other friends, supports the Georgian people in their desire for Georgia to be a civilised, peaceful, European, united, and flourishing country, and it does not support this gang of traitors and criminals who are collaborating with Russia against Georgia,” said Baramidze.
