“The Opposition Alliance congratulates the Hungarian people on the victory of Péter Magyar’s party, Tisza, in the parliamentary elections. The result of the vote is an unambiguous and resolute expression of the Hungarian people’s commitment to democracy,” reads the Opposition Alliance statement.

“Hungary is an inseparable part of European civilisation, which is also reflected in Viktor Orbán’s concession of defeat: the peaceful transfer of power stands as one of the foremost achievements of democratic tradition. Hungary’s firm and unequivocal stance in the struggle against Russia and other enemies of the free world is of the utmost importance for Georgia and for the entire free world.

We wish the new Hungarian government every success, and express our hope that the new reality born of the Hungarian people’s choice will substantially weaken the influence of forces sympathetic to Putin’s Russia within the European Union and across the free world as a whole, and that it will deepen cooperation in the sphere of security amongst free nations,” the statement read.
