One person has lost their life due to heavy snowfall in the Guria region. The incident occurred in the village of Konchkati in Ozurgeti municipality.

The deceased is a local resident, a middle-aged man who, according to preliminary information, went to help a neighbour and fell victim to a collapse.

According to Giorgi Urushadze, the State Representative in the Guria region, relevant services are investigating the details of the incident.

“From the very first day of the natural disaster, an emergency headquarters has been set up in the Guria region. All relevant services are working in a 24-hour continuous mode to solve all problems facing our citizens and the region as quickly and effectively as possible. Unfortunately, in the village of Konchkati in Ozurgeti municipality, a man died as a result of an accident. The relevant services are investigating the details of the incident. This is truly a sad fact, and I sincerely sympathize with the family members and relatives of the deceased and express my condolences to them,” Giorgi Urushadze stated.

Also, due to the bad weather, the roof of a residential house collapsed in the village of Kokati in Lanchkhuti municipality, where a solitary man of about 75 years lived.

According to Aleksandre Sarishvili, the Mayor of Lanchkhuti municipality, communication with the man has not been established so far. He also said that tomorrow morning equipment will be sent to clear the road, accompanied by a rescue team, and they will have precise information about the man’s condition.
