New round of IPRM meeting underway in Ergneti

A new round of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) meeting is underway in Ergneti, aimed at addressing security concerns along the occupation line.

According to Irakli Antadze, Deputy Director of the State Security Service’s Analytical Department, the primary topic on the agenda is the illegal detention of Georgian citizens by the occupying forces. The sides will also discuss recent incidents along the administrative boundary line (ABL), including continued cases of illegal “borderization.”

Antadze stated that since the previous meeting, there have been 11 new instances of borderization carried out by Russian forces in Gori (Tsitelubani and Kveti) and Kareli municipalities (Dvani, Ghogheti, Takhtisdziri, and Avlevi), involving the installation of metal posts, barbed wire fences, and the digging of so-called fire-prevention trenches.

“We are expecting updated information and will demand their [illegally detained Georgian citizens] immediate and unconditional release so they can return to their families,” Antadze said.
