NBG: Remittances from Russia decline, while those from the EU and US rise again

In June, remittances sent to Georgia increased by 12.2% year-on-year to USD 315.5 million, while funds transferred from Georgia rose by 21.8% to USD 34.3 million, according to a report published by the National Bank of Georgia (NBG).

The NBG noted that the primary driver of growth was remittances from the European Union, which saw a 17.3% annual increase. Remittances from the United States continued their upward trend, growing by 23.0%. Conversely, remittances from Russia declined by 2.8% in June.

“In June, the main sources of remittances were the European Union (44.4%), the USA (18.6%), and Russia (13.0%). Notably, Italy (16.4%), Germany (8.6%), and Greece (8.1%) contributed significantly among EU countries,” the NBG report states.
