NATO-Georgia Exercise 2025 begins at JTEC
The Ministry of Defence of Georgia is hosting the NATO-Georgia Exercise 2025, officially inaugurated at the Joint Military Centre in Krtsanisi.
During the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Defence Giorgi Liluashvili, Deputy Commander of the Defence Forces Major General Zaza Chkhaidze, and NATO Military Liaison Officer Colonel Berat Telli extended their congratulations to both Georgian and international military personnel involved in the exercise. In their addresses, they emphasised the significance of this exercise and conveyed their best wishes for a successful implementation.
Minister of Defence Grigol Giorgadze, Deputy Commander of the Defence Forces Brigadier General Irakli Chichinadze, representatives of the Ministry of Defence, defence attaches from various countries accredited to Georgia, Head of NATO Liaison Office in Georgia Alexander Vinnikov, representatives of the NATO-Georgia Substantial Package (SNGP), and the European Union Monitoring Mission attended the ceremony.
This marks the fourth exercise in the NATO-Georgia exercise cycle, which takes place in Georgia every three years.
The NATO-Georgia Exercise 2025 is a computer-assisted brigade-level command and staff exercise designed to train a multinational brigade-level unit in planning and executing crisis operations under Georgian leadership. The exercise will combine a field component with multinational staff training, showcasing the NATO-Georgian Joint Training and Evaluation Centre (JTEC) command and control capabilities while enhancing operational coordination.
Planned by NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SHAPE) and the General Staff of the Georgian Defence Forces, this exercise follows NATO-developed scenarios, procedures, and doctrines.
A total of 17 NATO member and partner nations are participating in the multinational exercise, including Georgia, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, Azerbaijan, Moldova, Armenia, and Tunisia. Several international organizations and units are also involved.
The exercise encompasses six initiatives outlined in the NATO-Georgia Essential Package (SNGP), which includes: the Joint NATO-Georgia Training and Evaluation Centre (JTEC), Military Engineering, Military Police, Military Medical Capability Development, Special Operations Forces, and Standardization and Codification.
Throughout the NATO-Georgia Exercise, partners will evaluate the capabilities of the Special Operations Battalion Headquarters and Liaison Element, the Military Police Battalion Headquarters and its subordinate units, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD), the Military Medical Company (ROLE 2F), and the 12th Battalion “Charlie” Company of the 1st Infantry Brigade.
