The western Guria region of Georgia will have its National Park.

Georgian Environment Protection and Agriculture Deputy Minister Nino Tandilashvili introduced the locals to the ongoing park arrangement work in Ozurgeti town.

The Ministry and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) will carry out the project with the financial assistance of the Swiss Embassy and local authorities.

The total value of the project makes EUR 520,530. The Guria National Park to open in 2023 will stretch across 30 thousand hectares.

Deputy State Envoy in Guria Ketevan Moistsrapishvili believes the Guria National Park will create new opportunities for ecotourism and economic benefits.
