National Movement to refrain from participation in discussions about Constitutional Amendments

Levan Bezhashvili, a member of National Movement Party said that National Movement will refrain from participation in the discussions about Constitutional Amendments planned for June 21 in the parliament.

According to Bezhashvili, there was difference of opinions within the party but since Georgian Dream clearly stated that Constitutional Amendments would collect enough votes to be approved, the party will respect March 8 Agreement and will abstain from voting for.

“We respect the proportion 120/30 but the other part of the agreement is also important. Everyone has to respect the condition that Giorgi Rurua (Founder and shareholder of Main Channel), who is recognized as a political prisoner both in Georgia and abroad, has to be released,” Bezhashvili said.

Constitutional amendments need 113 votes to be approved. If Constitutional changes are approved, the 2020 parliamentary elections will be held in 120/30 model in Georgia in autumn.
