Natia Turnava: Energy sector promotes the integration of occupied Abkhazia with the rest of Georgia
Providing the occupied region of Abkhazia with electricity from Russia takes place within one-time, short-term contract. The Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia Natia Turnava told the First Channel.
According to her, the contract is lined up to 45 million kWh and its cost is USD 315 thousand.
“The energy sector promotes the integration of occupied Abkhazia with the rest of Georgia and irrational rhetoric should not infringe this balance”, – Deputy Minister said.
Russia supplies Georgia’s occupied region of Abkhazia with electricity starting from February 27. The Ministry of Economy of Georgia announced that the Electricity System Commercial Operator (ESCO) of Georgia and Russian Company Inter RAO had signed an agreement on providing the occupied region of Abkhazia with electricity from Russia.
