“I am stepping down from my position as a member of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Board to avoid harming the interests of the state and the reputation of the National Bank,” wrote Nana Keinishvili in her social network post.

Keinishvili rejects accusations voiced against her. According to the social post, Keinishvili decided to personally respond to the current events and information circulating about her that aroused interest and questions in the public.

“I categorically reject the allegations made against me—namely, that I used my official position to pursue personal business interests, to secure an unlawful advantage for any company, or to influence the activities of other individuals. At the same time, the NBG explained that I was a non-executive member of the board and lacked an executive management mandate.

I respect the institutional independence of the National Bank and its authority. Due to the above, I am quitting my position as a member of the National Bank of Georgia (NBG) Board to avoid harming the interests of the state and the reputation of the National Bank,” she wrote.

As a reminder, the Prosecutor General’s Office launched an investigation into National Bank Board member Nana Keinishvili regarding alleged unlawful participation in commercial activity by a public official, following a formal referral from the NBG.
