Mzia Amaglobeli rejects accusations, calls herself an illegal prisoner
Mzia Amaglobeli, the founder of Batumelebi and Netgazeti, has declared herself an illegal prisoner and denied the charges against her in a letter distributed from the courtroom.
“I do not agree with the accusation. I consider myself an illegal prisoner. Fortunately, the dictatorship has failed to gain a foothold in our homeland. Therefore, I believe that I and other prisoners of conscience will be able to prove our innocence,” the letter reads.
The trial of Mzia Amaglobeli is underway at Batumi City Court, attended by the French Ambassador to Georgia, Sheraz Gasri, and representatives of various embassies.
Mzia Amaglobeli, who was detained on charges of assaulting a police officer, was sentenced to pre-trial detention by the Batumi City Court on January 14.
