Georgian Muslims observed Kurban Bayrami, also known as the Feast of the Sacrifice.
Adam Shantadze, the Mufti of Georgia, led the prayer at Batumi’s central mosque, where the Muslim community gathered before sunrise to participate in the sacred ceremony.
During the prayer, Adam Shantadze emphasized that Kurban Bayrami is the most opportune occasion for forgiveness.
“The recent developments in our country remind us that Georgian citizens need unity to preserve sovereignty. A divided nation serves the interests of adversaries. We must pay special attention to our youth—they are our future,” he stated.
Kurban Bayrami, or the Feast of the Sacrifice, is a significant religious holiday commemorating Eid al-Adha. It honours Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son to demonstrate his faithfulness to Allah.
The celebration lasts for three days and includes traditional rituals such as animal sacrifice, visiting relatives, and helping those in need.
