Georgian popular musician, singer, painter and actor Manana Menabde passed away at the age of 76, the family reported.
Manana Menabde was born in 1948 in the family of Ishkhneli Sisters. She has toured around the world with Rero Orchestra, offering the audience her interpretations of Georgian, Russian and European songs and romances.
She has cooperated with folklore and jazz bands Shin and Adio, and acted in several Georgian films.
Manana Menabde was the director of the music department of Georgian Radio and Television.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze offered his condolences to Manana Menabde’s family. He said Manana Menabde was “among those people who turned a legend in her lifetime.”
“I am deeply saddened by the passing of one of the most distinguished performers and musicians of our time, Manana Menabde.
She became a legend in her own lifetime thanks to her unique performing style, strong character and remarkable personal qualities.
I extend my heartfelt condolences to Manana Menabde’s family and loved ones,” he said.
