Mufti of Georgia leads prayer at Batumi Central Mosque to observe Ramadan Bayram

Mufti of Georgia Adam Shantadze led a prayer at Batumi Central Mosque in celebration of Ramadan Bayram.

Following the prayer, he extended his condolences to the Georgian Orthodox Church on the passing of Ilia II.

“I wish to once again convey my heartfelt condolences to the Georgian Orthodox Church and the Orthodox community on the loss of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II. His many years of dedicated service played a vital role in strengthening interfaith relations, fostering respect, peace, and unity within society,” said Mufti Adam Shantadze after the Bayram prayer.

Today, the Muslim world observes the conclusion of the strict fast and celebrates Ramadan Bayram. Festive prayers were held at Batumi Central Mosque, as well as in the vicinity where the Muslim community is calling for the construction of a new mosque.

Ramadan Bayram signifies the end of a month-long period of strict fasting. Throughout this time, believers abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset. For Muslims, it is a festival of victory over the devil and passions, symbolising spiritual triumph and renewal.
