MPs hold minute of silence for adolescent electrocuted to death in Vake Park
The Georgian parliament’s plenary session on Tuesday began with a minute of silence to commemorate Marita Meparishvili, a 13-year-old girl who was electrocuted to death at Vake Park on October 13.
Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of Parliament, sent his condolences to the teen’s parents, family members, and friends, stating that it would be pointless “to attempt to convey his sorrow with words of compassion.”
“I am confident that the ongoing investigation will uncover the truth, but nothing will heal this tragedy,” he added.
Three minors were electrocuted while attempting to retrieve a ball that had fallen into the Vake Park fountain on October 13. One died, while two were hospitalized.
