MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili: Opposition in crisis, fight over black money and hate each other more than us
“The opposition has been in crisis for a long time. It doesn’t matter whether they unite, remain divided, or adopt a new configuration; the fact remains, they are in crisis,” said MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority, speaking to GPB First Channel.
According to him, they and their foreign benefactors have made so many political mistakes that correcting them is nearly impossible.
“There are no 61 opposition members in Parliament opposing the government, nor did they participate in the local elections, nor do they have representatives in city councils across the country. This is a colossal mistake that cannot be rectified. They will never be able to stage a revolution; they have reached such a catastrophe through immature and destructive actions. Inside their ranks, there’s a fierce competition over who will be recognised as the leading oppositionist. In other words, who will control the largest share of the foreign-funded black money? Don’t be fooled into thinking they argue over prosaic issues. Their quarrels are about who will secure more funding from illicit sources. They are incompatible individuals. They hate each other more than anyone from our team,” Sharmanashvili stated.
