“The opposition has no backing whatsoever from the people of Georgia. We anticipate yet another performance destined to fail,” stated MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority.

According to him, “regardless of the task the opposition is given, their mistakes have left them with no resources whatsoever.”

“I will arrange a meeting with you on May 27, and I will remind you of the words I’ve spoken today: the opposition is incapable of achieving anything because it has no resources. They have zero support from the Georgian population. Once again, we are witnessing a performance that will end in the same collapse as their previous attempts. They spoke with the opposition about unification, but they did not consider that they were calling on people with no resources to do so. What did these individuals do? As soon as they realised they couldn’t reach a majority, they discarded about 700,000 votes. They told these voters, ‘So what if you voted for me? I have political obligations, and my superiors gave me other tasks, which is why I didn’t enter parliament.’ How can such politicians expect voters to trust them? No matter what task they are assigned, their mistakes have left them with no resources,” Tengiz Sharmanashvili concluded.
