MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili claims Opposition Alliance is controlled by their benefactors, not independent decisions

“The Opposition Alliance cannot make independent decisions; the choices regarding who will join and why are dictated by their superiors,” stated MP Tengiz Sharmanashvili, a member of Georgian Dream, in an interview with GPB First Channel.

According to Sharmanashvili, if the decision is made for Lelo and Gakharia’s party to join the alliance, it will be due to their lack of autonomous authority.

“Don’t view this process as an internal matter where parties decide who unites with whom. The sad reality is that a single boss governs these individuals. Roles have been assigned even before the elections, determining who should participate and who shouldn’t. These people serve one overarching narrative. Their propaganda media outlets are their main tool, and they are openly facilitating the rise of the parties they oppose within these platforms. Don’t be fooled into thinking they are not in collaboration. It is simply their role to distribute responsibilities,” Sharmanashvili explained.

One of the leaders of the Opposition Alliance, Nika Gvaramia, believes that the Lelo–Strong Georgia and Gakharia for Georgia parties should be admitted into the alliance.
