MP Samkharadze: We received positive messages from distant countries, shared experiences with candidate nations
“We have heard many positive messages from geographically distant countries, while we shared experiences with candidate countries,” said Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the parliamentary Foreign Relations Committee.
According to Samkharadze, the Georgian delegation shared with EU member states detailed information about the situation in Georgia and highlighted instances of inaccurate and unfair positions that EU bureaucrats may take.
“We have heard many positive messages from geographically distant countries, while we shared experiences with candidate countries, for instance, with Albania and Montenegro on the EU integration process.
We shared with EU member countries detailed information about the situation in Georgia, highlighting instances of inaccurate and unfair positions the EU bureaucrats may take, and emphasising steps that can be taken to improve the overall situation. We efficiently used the IPU conference platform. We will see the results of parliamentary diplomacy shortly,” he said.
Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili and Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, participated in the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) conference in Geneva. Within the framework of the visit, they held high-level meetings with parliament presidents from different countries.
