MP Makhashvili: While attempts to disrupt election are probable, state will respond firmly to any violations

“The local elections will proceed, the process will be peaceful, and the country will continue to develop from October 5,” stated MP Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament.

According to Makhashvili, while there will undoubtedly be attempts to disrupt the election process, the state is prepared to respond appropriately.

“These forces are likely to try to storm polling stations, block them, or hinder CEC representatives from fulfilling their duties. However, the government will take decisive action against each violation. From a systemic perspective, the overall election process nationwide is expected to remain stable. Any individual incidents aimed at disrupting the elections will be prevented.

Their statements reveal a desperate thirst for power. Such groups will attempt to achieve their aims by any means, especially now that radical elements are not participating in the elections. With their exclusion, their only remaining option is to seize power through unconstitutional means. The government will respond appropriately to such attempts.

Nevertheless, there is no need to lose sleep over these concerns; they are unlikely to be realised. There will be attempts, but the state is prepared to handle them,” Makhashvili concluded.
