MP Makhashvili: Opposition lacks leadership, trust, and coherent planning, leading to chaos and disunity
“What we see in the opposition is an artificial unity built around a radical plan that has now collapsed. Currently, everyone is merely trying to save themselves—fleeing and seeking self-preservation,” stated Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the European Integration Committee of the Parliament.
According to him, opposition representatives lack the freedom to maneuver, as they have so deeply strained and suppress their supporters that any attempt to engage constructively in the political arena would likely provoke their wrath.
“They are desperately seeking a way out of this chaos—sometimes under foreign influence, often guided by the wishes of their supporters. We used to say that Salome Zourabichvili would serve as their leader until they no longer needed her. Once they exhausted her resources and used her, they would discard her politically, and we are now witnessing this process,” Makhashvili explained.
The MP highlighted that the opposition parties lack leadership and trust.
“The core problem with the opposition is that they have no leader, and none of their parties possess the trust necessary to unify around a common figure. As a result, we see a lack of leadership, widespread distrust, and an absence of strategic planning. When these three critical elements are missing, meaningful unification becomes nearly impossible,” Levan Makhashvili concluded.
