“Elene Khoshtaria’s release is entirely in her own hands. If she admits to the crime, the state has already made its position clear: a plea bargain will be finalised that very instant, and she will be free,” stated the Chairman of the Parliamentary European Integration Committee, MP Levan Makhashvili.

According to him, Elene Khoshtaria chose to reject bail.

“No one takes pleasure in, nor does anyone desire, putting someone behind bars. This matter is entirely their own choice. When you break the law, you are directly and deliberately challenging the law, and it is only logical to expect that the rule of law and justice will be served. Regarding her health, there are 12,000 other prisoners alongside her, and everyone receives appropriate medical care. There is no medical service that the Georgian state is incapable of providing; any medical need that anyone may develop will be fully met,” Levan Makhashvili stated.
