MP Maia Bitadze: Lelo’s lawsuit is laughable; they’re putting themselves in comical situation
“Like other branches of the United National Movement, Lelo is characterised by a lack of professionalism, both in their understanding of Georgian legislation and international norms,” stated MP Maia Bitadze, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee on Environmental Protection.
She described the Lelo party’s lawsuit as laughable.
“We have witnessed their legal and political failures numerous times when they have appealed to the Strasbourg Court. It’s clear how many cases they have initiated internationally have ended in disappointment. The same fate awaits their constitutional complaint. Their lawsuit is laughable because they are placing themselves in a most comical position. I advise them to not only study national legislation but also review the practice of the European Union, where parties have been banned,” Bitadze added.
Giorgi Sioridze, a member of the Lelo-Strong Georgia party, stated that the party has prepared a constitutional complaint, which they intend to submit to the Constitutional Court in the near future.
