MP Levan Makhashvili: EU enlargement report and visa liberalisation report are two separate documents
“The EU Enlargement Report does not apply to the Visa Liberalisation Report; these are two distinct documents,” stated MP Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the European Integration Committee in the Georgian Parliament.
According to Makhashvili, the European Commission is expected to publish a separate report in November.
“The practice over the past three or four years has shown that these topics are generally not included in the enlargement report. There may be a general discussion about Georgia’s efforts in border protection and the fight against crime; these issues are addressed in the report on the implementation of the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan.
From an informational perspective, there may be some overlap, but the European Commission’s recommendations will not be included in this report. That is not its purpose. We will hear these assessments from the European Commission in a different report, which will most likely be published in November, but somewhat later,” Makhashvili explained.
