MP Kirtskhalia: Silence on October 4 violence sends loud message of endorsement, reflects EU’s attitudes
“Silence regarding the violence witnessed on the streets of the capital on October 4 during the attempted coup and overthrow speaks volumes. Silence is a powerful statement and a stark reflection of the support, unfortunately, exhibited by Brussels and the European Union leaders,” stated MP Irakli Kirtskhalia, leader of the parliamentary majority.
Kirtskhalia stressed that no official comment had been made on this matter so far.
Furthermore, regarding the issue of suspending or maintaining visa liberalisation, Kirtskhalia described it as a direct tool of blackmail in their hands.
“Regrettably, we see the language of blackmail not only aimed at our country but also an agenda driven by Brussels. We sincerely hope this will come to an end very soon. Georgia and the Georgian people are not subject to blackmail; they are well aware of this. The recent elections clearly demonstrated that we are not susceptible to such tactics. Of course, another attempt to blackmail us over the suspension of visa liberalisation has failed,” Kirtskhalia affirmed.
