MP Kirtskhalia: Georgia meets visa-free travel provisions, but Brussels’ Deep State introduce controversy

“Georgia fully meets the technical-political aspects of visa liberalisation, whilst the introduction of controversial components speaks to Brussels politicians backed by the Deep State, declared parliamentary majority member, MP Irakli Kirtskhalia.

Kirtskhalia was asked about an article by RFERL journalist Rickard Jozwiak, which claims that Brussels is demanding the repeal of the Transparency of Foreign Influence and Family Values and Protection of Minors laws, threatening to suspend visa liberalisation in response. According to Jozwiak’s assessment, the necessary number of countries for this action already exists.

As Kirtskhalia noted, all laws adopted by Georgian Dream were commissioned by society.

“If we consider this in the context of elections and someone from Brussels is trying to link it to elections, they are gravely mistaken. They should know that every law adopted by Georgian Dream, particularly these laws, represents society’s commission. We have said repeatedly and will say again: they cannot possibly explain to the Georgian people how European Union values and principles can encompass non-transparency, opposition to family values, and the propagation of LGBT propaganda. This is a completely immoral demand and truly deviates from genuine European values and principles.

We always distinguish between the bureaucracy, politicians backed by the Deep State, and European peoples, values and principles.

Georgian Dream has taken those steps which are national and sovereign, upon which a proud and self-respecting country stands. In a country with our history, no one can dictate to us, and no one can claim that non-transparency is a European standard, whilst family values are not a European standard, and LGBT promotion is a European standard. Georgian Dream will continue on the path it is following, which is commissioned by our society.

This is an entirely immoral demand. Even raising this discussion in Brussels is completely immoral. Visa liberalisation has its technical aspects, technical-political ones, which our country fully meets. The introduction of such controversial and immoral components speaks to bureaucracy and so-called politicians backed by the Deep State in Brussels,Kirtskhalia declared.
