MP Kadagishvili: It pains us all to see former leader Garibashvili facing criminal charges, but the evidence is there

“To some extent, we are all pained that our team’s former leader is now facing criminal charges,” said MP Irakli Kadagishvili, chair of Parliament’s Self-Government Committee.

Kadagishvili said it is understandable that Irakli Garibashvili believes the case against him is political, but noted that concrete facts and evidence had already been presented in the earlier case.

“As for the new case against him, the investigation will presumably have its own evidence and arguments. I don’t want to analyse this process; it’s not my job, and the trial will show. The findings established by the investigation and the court, alongside his own admissions, presumably represent the facts of the case. That is the reality, and a sad one at that. You can see that nobody is pleased about this and none of us likes it. To some extent, we are all pained that our team’s former leader is now facing criminal charges,” Kadagishvili said.
