Murder reported in Poti

A woman has been found dead in Poti after her husband allegedly strangled her with a pillow following an argument reportedly sparked by jealousy. According to preliminary reports, the man had also released natural gas inside the room beforehand.

The incident occurred late at night. Reports say the man called the emergency services number 112 himself on Sunday morning, after the alleged crime. Emergency medical personnel who arrived at the scene found the woman dead.

According to available information, the couple were alone at home at the time of the incident. They have four children.

Law enforcement officers are at the scene, and investigative measures are underway.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs said an investigation had been launched under Article 11¹–109 of the Criminal Code, which concerns the aggravated intentional murder of a family member.

According to local residents, law enforcement officers have detained the suspected perpetrator.
