MP Gorduladzе: Germany's Foreign Office refuses to respect Georgian people's choice
“Salome Zourabichvili continues to refer to herself as President, and it looks like the German Foreign Office’s leadership appears equally unwilling to respect the choice of the Georgian people,” MP Archil Gorduladzе, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee, has stated.
Gorduladzе commented on the information currently displayed on the German Foreign Office’s website, which still lists Salome Zourabichvili as President of Georgia.
“Peter Fischer is not an ambassador; he merely occupies the position. He is doing everything in his power to destroy relations between our two countries, much as the former American ambassador did before him. All of this underscores a particular attitude towards Georgian society.
Regrettably, some embassies hold Georgia, as a sovereign nation, in complete contempt. It is impossible to take this man seriously when he turns up at the April 9 Memorial and proceeds to encourage and endorse radicalism and extremism even there. That is precisely why we refer to him as a so-called ambassador, who is currently occupying the post and whose career will come to an end once his time here is done.
Salome Zourabichvili calls herself President, and it seems that the German Foreign Office’s leadership is equally disinclined to respect the Georgian people’s will. They update their records instantly when personnel changes occur in Syria, and they extend invitations to representatives of a country that does not recognise Georgia’s territorial integrity, which is utterly unacceptable. All of this serves to highlight that the love for the Georgian people they speak of so grandiloquently does not so much as reside in their hearts,” Gorduladzе stated.
