MP Bozhadze: Trump's letter reinforces support for Georgia and its people
“Trump’s letter is another testament to the ongoing support for Georgia and its people. It was particularly significant that the letter was addressed to Mikheil Kavelashvili. The Trump administration has expressed its readiness to normalize relations with Georgia,” stated Vladimer Bozhadze, a parliamentary majority MP.
Bozhadze expressed confidence that the upcoming steps will build upon the message conveyed in Trump’s letter.
“We also discussed the Georgian government. I am sure that the next steps will follow President Trump’s letter shortly. We are ready to restore the level of relations with America that we had before the Biden administration. The legitimacy of the Georgian government is not at issue, because the majority of voters supported the Georgian Dream,” Bozhadze stated.
Vladimir Bozhadze also referenced letters from other world leaders, highlighting how these messages appeared to attempt to create a divide between the Georgian people and their elected government.
“Unlike the letters from Macron and others, which allegedly sought to divide the Georgian people and their elected government, nothing of the sort was in Trump’s letter. He conveyed the country’s independence to Mikheil Kavelashvili and also addressed the Georgian government,” Bozhadze stated.
Georgian Dream’s MP went on to say that the ruling team and the government confirmed their legitimacy on October 26 and do not feel any legitimacy issue.
“We never questioned our legitimacy before, and we do not do so now,” Bozhadze concluded.
