MP Archil Gorduladze: Bacho Akhalaia orchestrated regime of systematic human rights violations; law enforcement to establish his role in attempted coup
“Bacho Akhalaia claimed that October 4 was a peaceful demonstration. Indeed, it was a demonstration conducted peacefully, a crime committed without violence, a peaceful invasion and assault on the President’s residence. Compared to the harm Bacho Akhalaia has inflicted, it was a minor incident,” MP Archil Gorduladze, chair of the parliamentary legal affairs committee, pointed out.
According to Gorduladze, it is now the responsibility of law enforcement agencies to determine what role Bacho Akhalaia played in the attempted coup.
“He is simply an ordinary torturer who built a regime characterised by systematic and widespread human rights violations. It is for law enforcement to establish his precise involvement in the attempted coup d’état, and society must understand this,” Gorduladze emphasised.
The leader of the Federalists Party, Tamar Chergoleishvili, stated that meetings were being held at Bacho Akhalaia’s house in relation to October 4, and that this fact became the cause of confrontation within the United National Movement.
