Minister Tsulukiani interprets Ukraine's sanctions on Georgians as deemed-to-failure attempt to drag Georgia into war

Georgian Culture Minister Tea Tsulukiani denounced Ukraine’s decision to sanction four Georgian individuals as a “hostile move by a country that claims to be a friend of Georgia.” She added the “regrettable move” may be interpreted as “another attempt, that is deemed to fail, to lure Georgia into a military confrontation.”

Sanctions, according to Tsulukiani, are unlikely to have any effect on those sanctioned. She emphasized that the Georgian government’s first objective was peace and stability in the country and that the ruling Georgian Dream party was the guarantor.

Four Georgian individuals, Alexander Ivanishvili, Ucha Mamatsashvili, Tate Mamatsashvili, and Ketevan Kharaidze, were added to Ukraine’s sanctions list by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The sanctioned individuals were linked with the ex-Georgian PM, the Georgian Dream (GD) party founder Bidzina Ivanishvili, according to Davit Arakhamia, the chair of the Ukrainian ruling party in parliament.
