Minister of Defense presents annual report

Georgian Minister of Defense presented the annual report on reforms and activities implemented by the Ministry in 2020.

Irakli Gharibashvili stated that building and strengthening the defense forces is the national task for the Georgian state. He spoke about the plans for next year, aiming to improve readiness and combat capabilities, strengthen the NATO integration process, and deepen the strategic partnership based on mutual values ​​with the US.

The Defense Minister noted that the Georgian army would be fully equipped with a high-standard modern weapon and anti-aircraft capabilities. The Ministry plans to purchase the operational and tactical drones, more Javelins, and modern portable anti-aircraft missile systems.

The Minister of Defense focused on the local military industry. According to him, preliminary negotiations to establish a joint defense production have been launched with Poland, the Czech Republic, and Israel.

Irakli Gharibashvili emphasized the importance of loyal and reliable international partners. He focused on NATO-Georgia relations, the growing dynamics and scale of the multinational military exercises, and bilateral relations with NATO member and partner countries. He underlined the successful cooperation with Georgia’s strategic partner, the United States.
