Mikheil Kavelashvili: Georgians not only created country but, eternal concept homeland, the idea that Georgian nation constantly protected
“Georgia has faced numerous storms over the centuries, and our people, having endured many hardships, have achieved what once seemed impossible in their quest to protect their homeland and dignity. They have fought tirelessly against the world’s largest empires and countless enemies for millennia, surviving and preserving the values upon which our nation was built,” said the President of Georgia, Mikheil Kavelashvili, in his inauguration speech.
As Kavelashvili emphasized, Georgia is a historic nation. Georgians not only created a country but, more importantly, an eternal concept called homeland. It is this idea that the Georgian nation has constantly protected and defended. According to him, the enduring struggle for peace has strengthened the character of the people and instilled in them the vital importance of unity—unity based on mutual respect, and love for family and homeland.
“Everyone knows that we are one of the most distinctive and historic nations, whose formation began in ancient times. Our people created a country and, most importantly, an enduring idea called homeland. It is this idea that the Georgian nation continuously safeguards and defends. We have forged a unique culture connected to us for centuries, with invisible threads linking us across time and space—shared traditions and values. Our unwavering fight for peace, and the centuries spent defending against invaders, has strengthened our people’s character and reinforced the vital importance of unity: unity built on mutual respect, love for family, and love for homeland. Where a strong family equals a strong Georgia, and a strong Georgia equals a strong family. The Georgian family is where children learn to respect their parents and grandparents, cherish freedom, fight against injustice, respect for different opinions, and embrace the traditions our ancestors preserved, which unite the Georgian people,” said Mikheil Kavelashvili.
Mikheil Kavelashvili also noted that the Georgian language uniquely reflects the character of the Georgian people and the emotions that define them.
“The nature, history, and culture of the Georgian people are clearly expressed in our language, which holds an esteemed place among the world’s oldest languages. Many Georgian words, phrases, and sayings preserve our past, full of stories of dedication and perseverance. Countless masterpieces in the Georgian language continue to awe readers today. The Georgian language best reflects the spirit of the Georgian people and the emotions uniquely characteristic of us,” said the President.
